Tax law research experience on IRS Form 990; multi- state sales tax return issues (Georgia and Florida), as well as multi-county surtax laws, within Florida. Tax research skills: Extensive work in IRS issues for Form 1040; Form 1120, Form 990 and Form 1065.


  • Hospital/Reimbursement Accounting – Experience with the preparation of Medicare Cost Reporting in the areas of DSH (Disproportionate Share Hospital) section of the annual cost reports. Experience also includes issues or hemophilia and renal dialysis cost reporting. Experience in the research of authoritative regulation and Medicare law. Journalizing and recoding findings into the general ledger.


  • Human Resources – Ability to design and implement employee benefit package. Worked with Merrill Lynch professionals to structure employee savings plan. Coach employees to select their level of investment risk tolerance. Monitoring of investment performance of 401(k) employee plans and making appropriate changes when needed. Consulting was initially done pro bono. The organization is in the process of incorporating in Florida. Management Consulting Issues: My consulting services included the formation of nonprofit organization based on Florida Statutes. Worked on the articles of incorporation and corporate by-laws. Currently, I am working with the founders in defining their mission statement, HR policies and procedures, and financing arrangements. Accounting Issues: I am also working with their treasurer to set up the corporation’s accounting system, from the ground up, including finding the appropriate software to match their needs. Taxation Issues: I will also be working on the corporation’s application for its IRC 501(c)(3) status with the Internal Revenue Service.

Client: Tower Hill Insurance. Worked on accounts payable projects: analyzing source documents, validating authorization, ensuring IRS tax ID compliance from vendors; analyzing nature of goods and services being processed to ensure proper G/L reporting. Worked with various insurance claims’ (insurance claims’ accounting) related to hurricane damages affecting Tower Hill’s customers. Worked with insurance adjustors to ascertain payments for their services related to several hurricanes affecting clients (management’s goal was to report on the basis of timing, severity and class of hurricane, all information to be properly reflected in the financial statements for each GL entity). Worked with procedures to ensure proper payments, both electronically and regular checks. Did some reconciliation work.

Client: Butler’s Plaza Enterprises. Did a short-term assignment work related to sales tax reconciliation of several taxing entities owned by the client.

Worked in a team to prepare the Medicare Cost Report for Shands main hospital in Gainesville, and some support work for Shands Lakeshore hospital and Shands Jacksonville hospital.   • Cost Accounting. Worked on a support capacity to the cost accounting personnel, helping in designing their reporting needs, and in researching financial accounting data used in their cost accounting models.
